My Story:
Graduation is an event that should be a turning point in any
person's life. So when it came to me I made sure it was as big
a turning point as I could possibly make it. A few short weeks
after graduation I pack up my Subaru Justy. Piled into the car
with my father and drove to California. Getting small room in
Inglewood, in Los Angeles County. My goal, to become a Hollywood
writer. The result, I haven't a clue.
For the next year I hope to be working
as an assistant in Hollywood and learn the industry inside and
out. With only a few contacts in the industry I'm slowly making
my inroads. My progress in Hollywood can be followed from the
News pages on this site. I hope you find them interesting.
My Back Story:
Over the years I've had more experiences then could every be
successfully put into words with out a rather large advance,
but I will try none the less. People often ask why I want to
write episodic TV and features. I think it has to do with having
a broad range of interests. One of my more resents ones being
the US Supreme Court. Few professions let you work on any topic
you want to. However as a screenwriter if
I feel like being a lawyer for the day I can create a story line
about the law. For example I've been now working for almost a
year on writing a pilot for a show about the Supreme Court that
I call, Nine Wisemen. But sometime I don't feel like sitting
in a law library for sixteen hours reading oral arguments and
briefs to the court, so I'll go to an art museum instead and
work on my feature screenplay about art history, which at this
point is still without a name.
I write on almost everything I've done.
And I though I would try to list a few of the key things that
have happened or I have done in the last eight-teen-years.
- Growing up in Alaska I often helped
my father with his Forest Ecology research that he did for the
Forest Service. Me and him also got to go out with his friends
on their research for example, twice we went to Salt Lake Bay
and trapped & tracked Martins to study their habitat and
eating habits.
- My mother often worked and volunteered
at KTOO, NPR in Juneau, AK. She and two other people from KTOO
produced a nationally syndicated kids radio show, which I named,
We Like Kids. While at KTOO I learned how to radio production
and with a friend, Leif Saya, put together a kids of our own
(that never got on the air) called, We Are Kids.
- When my mother moved to TV, she covered
the Alaska State legislature for a public access network called
Gavel to Gavel. To fill the time I both helped in covering committee
meetings and volunteered as a guest page in both the House and
the Senate.
- My father's research often takes him
to South America. In 1996 he had an international conference
to attend in Porto Monte, Chile. I got to join him on this trip,
then tour the content, going around Chile, Argentina, and Peru.
- When my parents got divorced my mother
bought a sail boat, which she moved onto named the Natasha. When
I came to visit we would often go both short and long sails around
Southeast Alaska.
